Vice President says meditation brings deep peace to the soul, mind, and body
Gurugram, 09 December 2025: Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, C. P. Radhakrishnan, said that the penance and spiritual discipline of India’s sages, monks, and ascetics have guided the world toward meditation, inner strength, and the path of truth. Practices like Rajyoga, Vipassana, and Tapasya continue to position India as a spiritual guide for the world.
He noted that the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, draws its inspiration from the same spiritual force. The Vice President was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Silver Jubilee Year of Om Shanti Retreat Centre (ORC), Bahora Kalan, Gurugram, titled Shubharambh – Rashmiyan, where he was invited as the Chief Guest. He formally inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Year, named Rajat Rashmiyan.
Haryana’s Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh welcomed the Vice President on his arrival in the state.
Senior Brahma Kumaris leaders including ORC Director BK Asha, Chairperson of the Jurist Wing Rajyogini BK Pushpa, Africa Regional Coordinator Rajyogini BK Vedanti, General Secretary from Mount Abu Rajyogi BK Karuna, ORC Director Rajyogini BK Shukla, and Chairperson of the Women’s Wing Rajyogini BK Chakradhari extended their greetings to the Vice President.
During the lamp-lighting ceremony that marked the beginning of the program, the Vice President said that meditation brings profound peace to the soul, mind, and body. It generates positive thoughts and awakens inner energy. He added that while interacting with personalities from aviation, medicine, science, administration, social service, and politics at the event, it became clear once again that meditation and inner peace are universal human needs.
He said that following dharma brings peace as well as victory. Conquering one’s mind is the first principle of success, the essence of the Bhagavad Gita. Unless a person cultivates positivity, humility, and a spirit of service, true peace of mind is not possible. Quoting the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, he said that although millions of thoughts arise in the mind, the next moment in life is never certain. Therefore, instead of worry, good deeds, goodwill, and service to society bring real peace. He appreciated the humanitarian work being done by the Brahma Kumaris.
Referring to the COVID pandemic, the Vice President said that India providing free vaccines to many countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflects the timeless spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The ability to live for oneself while also caring for the whole world makes India a beacon of peace, compassion, and humanity. He emphasized that spirituality is mankind’s greatest strength — present within every individual — and needs to be recognized and lived.
“Spirituality gives the power to understand life’s essence” – Rao Narbir Singh
Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said that mutual hostility has no place in human life. When people nurture goodwill toward each other, life naturally becomes harmonious and balanced. He explained that spirituality does not mean adherence to any one religion, but understanding the deeper meaning of life. When a person develops spiritual vision, their thoughts, actions, and worldview transform. Positivity grows, they begin to see goodness in every situation and every person, and a new surge of inner energy emerges.
He added that spiritual teachings guide individuals in facing challenges, making wise decisions, and achieving true success.
“Brahma Kumaris is the only global spiritual organization led by women” – Rajyogi BK Karuna
General Secretary Rajyogi BK Karuna said that the Brahma Kumaris is the world’s only large-scale spiritual organisation led by women. In a short span of time, it has established thousands of centres across more than 110 countries. Through Rajyoga, the organisation is working toward world transformation.
ORC Director Rajyogini Asha said that only God is the world transformer. God opens the third eye of wisdom. She added that body-consciousness is the root of all vices; this is why God teaches the knowledge of the soul. Practical purity is the foundation of change. She briefed the audience on the year-long Silver Jubilee programs under the theme Rajat Rashmiyan, including the key initiative Mera Ghar Swarg Abhiyan.
Africa Regional Coordinator Rajyogini Vedanti guided the gathering into a deep experience of peace through Rajyoga meditation.
Rajyog Teacher Dr. Damini from Ahmedabad presented the welcome song. ORC members performed a special group dance. Rajyog teacher BK Hussain conducted the stage proceedings. More than 4,000 people participated in the event, including many members of the organisation.
